Producer, speaker, and blogger Ash Brown hosts a motivational podcast "Ash Said It Daily" which has over half a million streams worldwide and aims to encourage her audience. Vedic Botanicals Lead Herbalist and Founder Rachel Warnock had an opportunity to sit down and be interviewed by her, sharing a wonderful conversation about the origins and inspirations of her business.
Rachel starts off, "The school of medicine that I'm trained in is Ayurveda. It's a 5,000 year old system of health and wellness native to India. I studied in India for awhile. 'Veda' means wisdom or knowledge, 'Ayurveda' is the science of life."
In the early days of Vedic Botanicals, Rachel's largest hurdle was navigating the legal regulations. As a small, grassroots organization focused on herbalism and sustainability, working with lawyers and testing laboratories that were accustomed to the big fish of the industry, it was difficult to get a foot in the door.
Looking from the present to the future, they shifted to discuss what advice Rachel has for prospective entrepreneurs.
"To be completely blunt about it, having a business is like having a baby," she explains. "It will be one of the most difficult things you will ever do in your entire life but it will also be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding things... Be sure that it's something that feeds you on a mental/spiritual/emotional level before you take those first steps."
